If the PNG has transparent areas, read the note below before you rely on the result.
- Output: lossy. JPG discards some detail to shrink the file; the PNG source was lossless, so the trade becomes visible at high zoom.
- Transparency: JPG has no alpha channel, so transparent PNG areas are filled with a white background.
- Animation: only the first frame of an animated PNG is converted; JPG is a still image.
