The U.S. Department of State asks for a square 2 x 2 inch (51 x 51 mm) colour photo, which is 600 x 600 px at 300 dpi, with the head measured 25-35 mm from chin to crown.
What the authority says not to do: Do not stretch or re-frame the face: the 25-35 mm head height is measured by a person at the passport agency, not by this tool.
